Since 2021, Aethnic has been promoting a line of work focused on exploring and strengthening the link between tourism and the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). This journey has materialized in several projects developed in different stages, but with the same shared purpose: to understand how tourism proposals are constructed and articulated from the SSE, and what role they can play in the transformation of the current tourism model.
Through these projects, we have analyzed the TurismESS ecosystem in different contexts, especially in the city of Barcelona and the Catalan territory, identifying actors, practices and dynamics that point towards more just, sustainable and common good-oriented forms. This process has allowed us to move from diagnosis to proposal, generating tools, conceptual frameworks and lines of action aimed at promoting co-created tourism from the proximity and available to the large social majorities.
Together, these projects form a learning and action itinerary that evolves from the initial analysis to the definition of proposals with the capacity to have a real impact on the territory. Proposals that place natural and social ecosystems at the center of tourist activity, and that understand tourism as a tool at the service of the territory and collective well-being.
